Dawid Kubacki has had a failed season. He finished the World Cup competition in the top ten only once (eighth place in Sapporo) and with 213 points he took only 28th place in the general classification of the series. After the last struggles in Planica, he summed up the difficult months.

– It’s good that it’s over. Today’s jumping was like the whole season, an ordeal – began the 34-year-old, who took 29th place on Sunday. And then he explained why his results had been significantly below expectations in recent months. At the same time, he threw a stone into the garden of the Polish team’s training staff.
– We had talks with the coaches. What is most noticeable is that we were just full of energy and in this preparation period there was simply too much of everything. There was no time to rest and it exhausted us physically. Moreover, in the last stage of preparations, when winter was approaching, the coaches saw that it was not working as it should – he said in an interview with Eurosport.
– There was a bit too much panic and too much searching for changes to just get it going. Because of this, everything that was built fell apart. We entered the season when nothing was working. Later, we also lacked the peace to grab one thing and bring it to a good condition and only then try other things. There were quite a few moments when we tried on one side or the other. Such mixing did not help, there was no stabilization – he added.
Dawid Kubacki believes that Poles can jump better. “You have to approach it wisely”
Kubacki was asked if he saw a chance to improve his results next season. According to him, it is possible, but a number of conditions must be met. A lot has to change, especially during pre-season preparations.
– The main point is not to make the same mistakes next season. Of course, now we need to rest, because this season has exhausted all of us. Then you should approach training wisely and go as normal, then make sure you rest and become much more calm. Then it has the most chance of working.
– There were periods this season when there was a little more peace and things started to go better and better. Unfortunately, later everyone wanted the results to be available quickly. And this peace does not allow us to jump a dozen or so places during the week – he concluded.
The staff is aware of the mistakes made, as evidenced by the words of Thomas Thurnbichler. – We made mistakes in the autumn preparations. We worked too hard and the players entered the winter tired. Plus a different hardware philosophy. We had problems, he said.
