Kidambi Srikanth’s Semi-final Defeat at Swiss Open Reflects Resilience and Determination

NEW DELHI: India’s star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth faced a setback in the semifinals, losing to Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chun-Yi in a hard-fought battle at the Swiss Open Super 300 badminton tournament.
Despite a promising start, Srikanth couldn’t maintain his momentum, eventually succumbing to a 21-15, 9-21, 18-21 defeat in a match lasting one hour and five minutes.
The loss dashed India’s hopes at the USD 210,000 tournament, marking the end of their challenge. Srikanth’s semifinal appearance, his first in 16 months, showcased a return to form after his last last-four stage at the Hylo Open in November 2022.
After clinching the opening game, Srikanth took an early lead in the second set but faltered as errors crept into his game, allowing Lin to level the match. Despite regaining momentum in the decider and holding a slender lead, Srikanth couldn’t withstand Lin’s pressure, eventually falling short at 16-21.
While Srikanth’s Swiss Open journey concludes, his resilient performance reflects his determination to compete at the highest level, despite facing formidable opponents.
