Kevin Durant Climbs to Eighth Place on NBA’s All-Time Best Throwers List

Basketball star player Kevin Durant has reached the next milestone and taken eighth place on the list of the best throwers in history in the North American professional league NBA.

In his Phoenix Suns’ clear 115:102 win against the Philadelphia 76ers, Durant passed Shaquille O’Neal with his 22 points. The 35-year-old Durant now has 28,610 points, while O’Neal ended his career with 28,596 points.

Durant needed 159 games and around 3,500 minutes less than O’Neal to achieve this. The most striking difference between the two Americans is the distance shot: While center O’Neal only made one three-pointer in his career, Durant, who is still active, has already made 1999 successful attempts.

Durant could climb further in the all-time best list. Fifth-placed Michael Jordan (32,292 points) and behind him Dirk Nowitzki (31,560) and Wilt Chamberlain (31,419) also seem to still be within reach. The ranking has been led by superstar LeBron James from the Los Angeles Lakers since February 2023. James is the only professional to have scored over 40,000 points in NBA history.
