The Kansas City Chiefs will have to use one of their picks from the upcoming Draft to fill the hole that L’Jarius Sneed will leave. The cornerback has been traded to the Tennessee Titans, according to reports from ESPN and NFL Network.
The Chiefs will receive a third-round pick in the 2025 draft and both teams will trade seventh-round picks for Sneed to the Titans. The agreement has yet to be completed because the cornerback must pass the relevant medical evaluations.
Sneed had been retained by the Chiefs on a non-exclusive franchise tag, but the AFC West organization promised to trade him if they couldn’t reach a long-term deal, and the result was his arrival to the Titans.
Under the non-exclusive tag, Sneed would earn $19.8 million to play with the Chiefs in 2024. Now, as reported by Spotrac, the cornerback signed a four-year, $76 million extension with the Titans. Of that amount, 55 million are guaranteed.
The defensive back was key for Kansas City to reach Super Bowl LVIII and win it. During the AFC Championship Game, against the Baltimore Ravens, Sneed prevented an opposing touchdown by causing a fumble at the one-yard line when Zay Flowers was about to score.
