JV IPPON Rodewisch Dominates Opening Weekend of State and Association League

The new season of the state and association league started at the weekend. In both areas, the JV IPPON Rodewisch will again have a men’s team this year. In the association league, the Vogtlanders fought in Leipzig on Saturday. There they first had to face the SC DHfK Leipzig team and got an opening win with 4:3. Specifically, Patrick Adam (-81 kg), Tobias Meyer (-60 kg), Niklas Schütz (-66 kg) and Wieland Gropp (+100 kg) achieved the important points. The second encounter also ended with a 4:3 win for the Rodewischer. Merlin Voigt (-81 kg), Vincent Giller (-73 kg), Niklas Schütz (-66 kg) and Wieland Gropp (+100 kg) won their individual fights against the Judo Holzhausen team. Thanks to this outstanding performance, the Rodewischer are currently in third place in the table and will face the teams from Grün-Weiß Dresden and PSC Bautzen in round two on April 20th in Rodewisch.

The state league team traveled to Altenburg on Sunday. Inspired by the successes of the previous day, they continued the Rodewischer winning streak. In the first encounter, the IPPON men won 7-0 against the judoka from Crimmitschau. Here Martin Jahn (-81 kg), Nika Agumava (-73 kg), Paul Weinhold (-90 kg), Quentin Paul (-100 kg), Lukas Schädlich (-66 kg), Tim Schürer (-60 kg) and Phil Platzek (+100 kg) put their opponents in their place and got the points. The SV Unit Altenburg team faced the Rodewischers in the second team match. Here Lorenzo Haller (-81 kg), Paul Weinhold (-100 kg), Quentin Paul (-90 kg) and Dennis Kondakov (-66 kg) won their fights and secured a 4:3 win against the hosts. This means that the Rodewischer are in first place in their pool after the first day of fighting. The state league team will continue in Crimmitschau on April 21st. Here the opponent is called the Leipzig Sports Lions.
