Judoka Sébastien Fecteau Wins Gold in Doubles Kata Event at Eastern Canada Open Championship

JUDO. Judoka Sébastien Fecteau (Barnston-Ouest) and his partner Anaïs Lefebvre (Victoriaville) won the doubles kata event (nage-no-kata) among the U23s during the Eastern Canada Open Kata Championship, the March 16 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

The two gold medalists thus qualify for the 2024 Canadian Open Championships, in addition to obtaining approval of their kata for their black belt exam which will be held next June.

Kata, let us remember, is a kind of combat choreography performed with a partner and for which athletes are notably evaluated on technical accuracy and synchronization between team members.

Sébastien Fecteau is a member of the To Haku Kan Judo Club of Sherbrooke while Anaïs Lefebvre represents the Victoriaville Judo Club.
