Joe Flacco Signs with Indianapolis Colts for 2024 NFL Season, Ends Stint with Cleveland Browns

The arrival of Jameis Winston prevented Joe Flacco from returning to the Cleveland Browns for the 2024 NFL season. However, last season’s Comeback Palyer of The Year has found a new team in the AFC South.

According to the NFL Network report, the Indianapolis Colts signed Flacco to a one-year contract that, thanks to incentives, can reach up to $8.7 million. Additionally, the veteran QB is guaranteed $4.5 million upon signing.

The QB played the last five games of the regular season with the Browns, won four of them, and managed to take them to the playoffs. However, the Browns were eliminated in the Wild Card Round by the Houston Texans. Flacco had 1,616 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 60.3 percent of his throws during his time in Cleveland.

What will Joe Flacco’s role be with the Indianapolis Colts?

Flacco was willing to return to Cleveland, but one of his goals was to be a starter again in the NFL and in Indianapolis he will be able to achieve that. The Colts have their quarterback of the future in Anthony Richardson, chosen with the fourth overall pick in the last Draft. However, the University of Florida graduate will enter the 2024 season carefully because he suffered a broken joint in his right shoulder in Week 5 of his rookie campaign.
