JC56 Celebrates 70th Anniversary with Unexpected French Junior Champion Title

Minimal Individual French Cup

“It’s really a nice gift!” » Fred Pautler, the emblematic coach of Judo Club 56, still finds it hard to believe it. Created in 1954 by his father Pierre, the club is celebrating its 70th anniversary on Saturday at the Palais des arts in Vannes with a show full of history and emotion. But just before blowing out these candles, the club was entitled to this great moment with this unexpected title of French junior champion from Aslan Tasci. The young judoka (14 years old) had a perfect performance, winning his seven fights by ippon, including the final, where, although trailing 1 waza-ari to 0, he managed to win.

It’s a huge performance, especially since the Vannetais’ size (87 kg) could suggest that he was experiencing difficulties. It has not happened ! “We knew it was strong at the regional level and strong in terms of determination and training. His qualities are stability and his warrior mentality. But there was an unknown as to how he was going to be at the national level against heavier opponents. He came across some guys who weighed over 120 kg! “To have beaten them is a great achievement,” says Pautler.

Two 7th dan at the club

This success adds to the many great stories that the club has experienced in recent months. In mid-February, the senior men’s team became the team champion of Brittany for the first time. “It’s an exceptional year. This is due to the work of everyone and to the overall cohesion between teachers and students, to the complicity we have together. We are also lucky that the students bring us a lot,” explains Pautler, who recently graduated, with his friend Christian Mouttou, from the much-respected 7th dan. Further proof of the quality of teaching of a club with 650 members, ready for this 70th anniversary show. An event that Yannis Klelly-Grousset and Anna Audo will miss, who will be on another stage. That of the Paris Dojo, where they will try to shine for the “France cadets”. The JC56 is on all fronts. From up there, Pierre Pautler must certainly be proud of it.
