Italian Archery Federation President Mario Scarzella Sets High Expectations for Paris 2024

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “In Paris 2024 I expect medals. We come from Tokyo, a particular Olympics and Paralympics, for us also in terms of results, where we obtained two individual medals for the first time. But in Paris I expect medals from the teams, with which we had a tradition in the last editions of the Games, always finishing on the podium. I believe it because the boys are truly wonderful and work hard every day for their sporting life.” Mario Scarzella, President of the Italian Archery Federation, told Italpress. Returning to the year that is about to end, Fitarco’s number one says he is satisfied. “In the Olympic period we obtained the first card with Chiara Rebagliati at the European Games, and we came close to passing with the team. However, I am convinced that the men’s team will make it. The Paralympian has had excellent results, with seven cards for Paris 2024, six won at the World Championships, second in the medal table behind China. We have therefore confirmed ourselves among the best in the world. In the compound we achieved brilliant results, both indoors and outdoors. Regarding the other activities, i.e. the campaign and 3D, I have only one word: ‘Well done guys!’”.
For 2023, therefore, there are two Oscars to be awarded, for Scarzella: “The first to the entire Paralympic sector and in particular to Elisabetta Mijno, who achieved a world record and won everything there was to win . And then to Mauro Nespoli who, in addition to being the captain of the team, achieved the best results this year, participating once again in the World Cup finals, finishing on the podium, and remaining stable at the top of the rankings”. Not only sporting results, but also important local projects for Fitarco. “I want to thank Sport and Health for their contribution to the ‘A Scuola con l’Arcò’ project which has given excellent results both from a numerical point of view and in future perspective – concluded Scarzella – If we managed to retain only a third of the enrolled children we would be very happy. The project also involved families and technicians in the area. So, from a results point of view we are satisfied and we will continue to work in this direction also in 2024.”
