Is Ruud van Nistelrooy the Next PSV Legend to Coach in the Pro League?

After Mark van Bommel, will another PSV legend come to coach in the Pro League? Ruud van Nistelrooy was seen in Belgium recently. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker came to discuss with Club Bruges. While Nicky Hayen will act as interim manager until the end of the season following the dismissal of Ronny Deila, the Blauw en Zwart are looking for a new coach for next year.

Van Nistelrooy obviously enjoyed fame during his playing career. Not only did he represent PSV, the Red Devils, the Merengues, Hamburg and Malaga among others, he also scored 35 goals in 75 appearances for the Dutch national team, where he worked alongside van Bommel. The Antwerp coach must have proven to him that the Pro League is a good place to relaunch his coaching career.

Everything has to be rebuilt on a sporting level at Club Bruges: “The absence of Mannaert did not help me”, admits Ronny Deila after his C4

Since his resignation from PSV in May 2023, van Nistelrooy has not found employment, even if he was cited in Heerenveen for example. In Eindhoven, the Dutchman started with the youth team where he notably participated in the emergence of Johan Bakayoko. The man who ended his playing career in 2012 took over the reins of the PSV first team in 2022. He won a Dutch Cup and Super Cup there. He decided to end his adventure after only one season, notably after some of his players went to see the leaders of the Eredivisie club to express their discomfort.

Karel Geraerts is also on the radar of Club Bruges, which is giving itself time to make the right choice. The former Union SG coach is still under contract at Schalke 04, in German D2, where the local press does not hesitate to criticize the recent performances of his team. The Blauw en Zwart are also looking for a technical director. Hugo Broos and Franky Dury have been cited, even if the Club is thinking of alternatives.
