Íñigo López considers that he lost his job at Deportivo due to the Oikos operation

The defense lawyers of some of the main people investigated in the Oikos case, of alleged match-fixing of the soccer Spanish professional, they consider that The damage caused to his clients during the more than five years of instruction is now “irreparable.”

This has been assured to EFE by the lawyers of the former president of Huesca Agustín Lasaosa (José María Fuster), of the player Íñigo López (Juan Pablo Lerena), of the manager of the Pryobras construction company Jesús Sanagustín (Ricardo Orús) and the soccer player Samu Saiz (Juan Gonzalo Ospina), who hold the Justice administration and police investigators responsible not only for the personal and economic damage caused to their clients but also for the social stigma with which they must live together.

In the opinion of Íñigo López’s lawyer, the procedure carried out these years has not been one of investigation but of “destruction” of his client, who have not only seen their accounts seized and the doors of many banks closed but also lost his work as a player of Deportivo de la Coruña and, later, with his second arrest, in the San Sebastián de los Reyes team.

Lerena has explained that the arrests occurred on a massive scale after a six-month investigation by the previous prosecutor’s office and another by the investigating court for another six months, in an operation carried out by the Central Specialized and Violent Crime Unit of the National Police (UDEV), “very given, and I say this with all the respect in the world, to making films and striking actions.”

He has regretted that the Huesca investigating court that took charge of the case “did not take the reins” of the investigation and left it in the hands of the UDEV, which led to “irregularities” such as the fact that the order and search warrants were signed one day after they were carried out or that the arrests were made without a prior court order.

An investigation, he added, for which the police officers requested the car brands of two of the main people investigated for the keys to their vehicles to place microphones or ‘spy software’ was introduced into Íñigo López’s phone to read his WhatsApp communications.

This lawyer has considered these police actions “scandalous and savage”, who after months of reading the messages decided to precipitate the arrests simultaneously in various parts of the country, without judicial control to prevent “excesses”, such as the one that His client was arrested in A Coruña, transferred to Madrid and later, after spending a night in a cell in Zaragoza, he was taken before the instructor.

A situation, he added, that was repeated three years later with new arrests, including that of his client, by the UDEV, which was quickly resolved by the investigating judge “immediately releasing them, horrified by what happened.”

“The damage done to people with this type of investigation is terrible and is not valued, because it produces damage that is difficult to repair over time,” added Lerena, for whom the police and the court itself should be held responsible for this situation. .

Agustín Lasaosa’s lawyer has spoken in a similar sense, for whom his client was forced to leave the position of president of Huesca due to an accusation that, he stressed, “in principle it was seen that it made little sense, that it began with a history of sports betting, which then continued with the theme of matches and works on the field.

A situation, he explained, that placed Lasaosa “in the spotlight” of society for five years in which Huesca “had to do without him”, and about which he added that he trusted that he would return to direct. the club.

For his part, Samu Saiz’s lawyer has expressed satisfaction with the final result of the case, but has assured at the same time that he is sad because “my client’s life has been cut short, because this situation has prevented him from signing million-dollar contracts and even , play in the First Division”.

In a later reflection, Ospina considered that “it would be very good if in Spain there were a reflection on the deadlines and times of justice, and to stop looking the other way regarding causes that last for many years and that generate a very profound evil to those investigated, who are considered presumed guilty from the beginning.

The lawyer for the manager of the construction company Pryobras has also spoken out, regretting the “inconsistencies and errors” of the police investigation carried out on his client for the issuance of alleged invoices that did not correspond to the works carried out in the field. of Huesca to finance alleged rigging that was finally ruled out during the investigation”.

“Since the case broke in the media, all economic operators blocked the financing channels for my client’s companies, closing all kinds of doors against the presumption of innocence, which led to his moral ruin. health and economic, to the point of having to close all their companies due to a disastrous police investigation without sufficient evidence,” stressed Orús, for whom “when justice arrives late, justice is never done.”
