The webinar, scheduled for Monday, March 25 from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM, will take place digitally and offers a look at the importance of diversity and inclusion, with a focus on practical applications within associations.

During this evening, three guest speakers will share their insights into how they have put diversity and inclusion into practice within their associations.

P-Badminton at BC Mariken – Helena Cockx and Clark Nowack

From October 2022, BC Mariken will offer one hour of badminton every week for people with Parkinson’s disease. Exercise is important for everyone, but people with Parkinson’s benefit extra from this. Recent research has shown that people with Parkinson’s who exercise decline less quickly than people with Parkinson’s who do not exercise.

  • Helena Cockx is a neurologist-in-training at Radboud University Medical Center and has done PhD research on Parkinson’s disease. She has been playing badminton since her youth and has several years of coaching experience.
  • Clark Nowack is a lecturer in healthcare technology at the Arnhem and Nijmegen University of Applied Sciences. He is also chairman of the recreational committee at BC Mariken.
  • Emma van Dalen is a youth coach at Rudra United and previously also had an organizational position within the association.

Multilingualism at Rudra United – Emma van Dalen

Rudra United from Eindhoven is part of Sport N Socialize. Sport N Socialize was founded to combine the greatest passions: Badminton, youth talent development, technologies in sports and networking with new people. This hands-on approach offers valuable lessons and inspiration for those striving to create a more inclusive environment.

Partly due to a high level of immigration from Asian countries, badminton as a sport has enormous potential to grow and prosper in the Eindhoven region. Badminton is widely regarded as one of the most popular sports in Asian countries. This is evident from the widely available statistics on the participation of masses in this sport.
