Judo: Romane Dicko, expeditious in the final, wins the gold medal at the Astana Grand Slam

Just too strong. This Sunday in Kazakhstan, French judokate Romane Dicko left absolutely no chance to the Chinese Su Yin in the over 78 kg final of the Astana Grand Slam. It took less than a minute for the 24-year-old French athlete to finish the fight and win the gold medal.

From the first seconds, Romane Dicko appeared motivated and conquering. The Frenchwoman first worked her opponent on the ground then turned her around. She then managed an arm lock to end the fight and win this final. Throughout the competition, the judoka dominated, without ever appearing in difficulty.

During her semi-final, earlier in the day, the 24-year-old Frenchwoman defeated Akira Sone. A more than tough opponent, since the Japanese is quite simply the reigning world and Olympic champion.

In Astana, Romane Dicko played her third Grand Slam since the start of 2024, after Paris and Baku (Azerbaijan). The Frenchwoman simply won in each of them. She consolidates her first place in the world rankings in her category.

Romane Dicko therefore achieved a very good performance, less than three months before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, this summer. In the capital, the Frenchwoman can legitimately dream of Olympic gold.
