Home Win at the Powergirlstrophy and the Ried Open: Ried Tennis Hall Attracts Over 100 Players

The Powergirlstrophy and the Ried Open attracted over 100 players to the Ried tennis hall. There was a home win.

RIED IN THE INNER CIRCLE. From February 21st to 25th, the UTC Fischer Ried tennis hall became the venue for two tournaments. The Powergirlstrophy once again attracted a large number of the best local tennis women to the Innviertel, while the men’s program included the Ried Open, a “category two tournament”. A total of 109 participants were on the court.

Hofbauer’s home win

The women also had a UTC home win in the third edition. Bundesliga player Karina Hofbauer, who was equipped with a wild card, triumphed in the final against last year’s winner and teammate Nadja Ramskogler in three sets. On the way to the final, the 20-year-old defeated Eva Riml (Austria’s number 40), Anna-Lena Ebster (number five), Maren Benko (number 18) and Claudia Gasparovic (number 14). The UTC young player Anna Sattlegger was also able to convince and played her way into the round of 16 with her wild card.
“I’m overjoyed. With a wildcard to win the tournament and then in the final against a teammate – that’s very special. Now I’m looking forward to the league again,” said the winner. Tournament director and Powergirls captain Florian Reiter is also proud of the achievement: “Whoever defeats four of the top 20 from Austria en suite more than deserves the title.”

Men’s winner without losing a set

At the men’s tournament, the Ried Open, Linus Erhart lived up to his role as the “secret title favorite” and won in an impressive manner. The Vorarlberg native gave his opponents no chance and confidently crowned himself Ried Open Champion in the final against the German Michael Weindl. “I’m of course happy about winning the tournament. The field of participants was strong, but I was able to improve from round to round,” said the newly crowned tournament winner.

Tournament director Florian Reiter was more than satisfied with the doubles tournament and is already planning for next year: “We would like to organize this mixed doubles tournament again in 2025 and make it a fixture in the tournament calendar. The feedback from the participants was motivating.”
