From Plaza Bolívar in Guacara, Mayor Johan Castañeda, along with part of his executive train, accompanied the parishioners in the Nazarene mass and procession that took place this Holy Wednesday.
During the religious ceremony, the devotees venerated the sacred image of Christ, with the Cross on their backs, dressed in purple in his honor as an act of faith or as an offering for a favor received.
The Holy Eucharist was officiated by the parish priest Oscar Martínez, who stated that “we must visualize the Nazarenes that we have close to us to help them so as not to leave them alone.” Likewise, he exhorted those present to follow Christ, with a heart willing to renounce sin, pride, corruption and self-interest in order to carry the Cross and embrace it to die in it with Christ and rise with him.
The procession took place in the central area performing the traditional Via Crucis that remembers the most notable episodes of the passion of Christ.
First lady accompanied Yagua devotees
In turn, the first lady of Guacara, Corina Hernández de Castañeda, accompanied the devotees of El Nazareno from the Yagua parish, in the procession carried out from the Church of the Miraculous Medal, to the El Cabrito Sports Field, where hundreds of parishioners They participated in the Holy Mass.
The sacred moment of faith officiated by the parish priest Wililardo Álvarez, in which those present, men, women and children of all ages, with the cross in their hands and wearing purple as a sign of penitence participated like every year in these acts of faith and hope.
These events typical of Semana Mayor were also held in other temples in the city. For this Holy Thursday it is the last supper; Good Friday will be the living Way of the Cross, on Saturday the vigil and on Sunday the great feast of the resurrection.
