Goaltender Jack Campbell continues his career in the American Hockey League (AHL) and he reminded Tuesday why the Edmonton Oilers demoted him earlier this season.
During the first period of the match against the Calgary Wranglers, the Bakersfield Condors’ color bearer had to face a penalty shot from Jonathan Aspirot and he looked rather bad. The Quebecer walked towards him and fired a wrist shot. Campbell blocked the shot, but the puck bounced high and landed behind him and crossed the goal line, much to his amazement. It was also the decisive goal in a 2 to 1 victory for the Wranglers.
The former Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs played only five games with the Oilers in 2023-2024, suffering four losses and posting an efficiency rate of .873. His statistics in the AHL are more convincing, as he has maintained a .920 percentage, as well as a record of 16-12-3.
