Mexicans make history in the World Archery Championship
The Mexican archery team left an indelible mark at the World Championship of the specialty in Berlin 2023to win a total of four medals, three silver and one bronze.
After six days of intense competition, the national team achieved its best performance in a World Championship, highlighting this achievement.
The Olympic medalist Alejandra Valencia Trujillo stood out as one of the team’s outstanding figures, winning the silver medal in the individual recurve category.
On the other hand, Valencia Trujillo, originally from Sonora, demonstrated her skill on the throwing field by facing Japan’s Sugimoto Tomomi in the quarterfinalsbeating her with a resounding score of 7-1 and securing her place in the semifinals.

In an exciting contest in the round of four finalists, Valencia Trujillo faced the American Casey Kaufhold, beating her in a definition by golden arrow with a perfect throw which led her to a 6-5 victory.
The outstanding performance of the Mexican team also included three runners-up in the women’s individual recurve categories, composed of individual women (Andrea Becerra Arizaga) and composed of women’s teams (Becerra Arizaga, Ana Hernández León and Dafne Quintero García). In addition, a bronze medal was obtained in the women’s recurve team competition (Valencia Trujillo, Aída Román and Ángela Ruiz Rosales).
