After a meeting of the VfB Stuttgart committee on Tuesday, it was clear: President Claus Vogt (54) must vacate the post of chairman of the supervisory board!
His chosen successor is Tanja Gönner (54), who held a seat in the Bundestag for the CDU (2002 to 2004) and was social, environmental and transport minister for the state of Baden-Württemberg from 2004 to 2011. Gönner is the general manager of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and has been a member of the eleven-member VfB control committee since September 2022.
For the first time, a woman is now at the helm of a Bundesliga club – this already exists in the 2nd Bundesliga, where Sandra Schwedler heads the supervisory board of FC St. Pauli. Patron’s deputy is Peter Schymon (53) from Mercedes.
