  • Grigor Dimitrov wins the semi-finals of the ATP tournament in Miami against Alexander Zverev in three sets.
  • Dimitrov previously eliminated Carlos Alcaraz.
  • In the final, Dimitrov faces Jannik Sinner.

In the hard-fought game, one break in the first and third sets was enough for the 32-year-old to win his first win against Zverev in almost ten years. The two faced each other for the first time in Basel in 2014, with Dimitrov winning in three sets. In the seven encounters since then he has come away empty-handed. Last year alone, Dimitrov lost to Zverev four times, including at the French Open and the US Open.

In Miami, Dimitrov, who had defeated the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the previous round, used his two break chances against Zverev, while the German also failed in his only two opportunities to break through the service. The 26-year-old German only had the upper hand in the tiebreak of the second set.

Dimitrov will face the Italian Jannik Sinner in the final. Dimitrov lost two of the three duels so far against the winner of the Australian Open.
