Graz Huskies are women’s champions in their debut season

The Graz Huskies won the Austrian championship title in women’s ice hockey in their debut season. The Styrians defeated the SKN Sabers St. Pölten 1-0 in the final in the ice rink in Graz-Liebenau on Friday. Simona Grascher scored the only goal (15th).

The Huskies are only the fourth women’s team to win the state championship title since 2006-07. The Sabers Vienna (14 titles) are record champions, the Ravens Salzburg and title defenders Neuberg Highlanders, like the Huskies, each won once. The KEHV Lakers from Carinthia secured third place in the current season with a 5:2 win over last year’s champion Neuberg.
