Gogl-Walli storms into the semi-finals with an ÖLV record

The Upper Austrian Susanne Gogl-Walli confidently reached the semi-finals of the 400 meter indoor World Championships with a new Austrian record of 51.43 seconds in the preliminary run. The 27-year-old came second in her heat in Glasgow and was twelve hundredths of a second slower than the Dutch Lieke Klaver. As second place overall in the preliminary round, she was a whopping three tenths of a second below her own record set by the Austrian Athletics Association (ÖLV) from the previous year.

World record holder Femke Bol (NED) was content with 52.00 seconds in her preliminary victory. The semi-final of the best twelve is scheduled for Friday evening (9:50 p.m.). The final takes place on Saturday.
