The Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) announced this Thursday its appointments for the LaLiga matches this weekend and the Extremaduran referee does not appear in them, either as a field referee or as VAR.
Gil Manzano had not refereed last day, but that was within the norm, given that the usual thing is for the referees to rotate, directing a match every two days, with some exceptions. The fact that he has not been designated for matches this weekend does indicate that there is a disciplinary punishment, or at least a warning, from the CTA. This happens after his controversial refereeing in Valencia-Real Madrid. The controversial move occurred at the last moment. The international referee, the highest rated of all the Spaniards, decided to signal the end of the match, with injury time already expired, while Real Madrid put together an attacking play.
