Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Set to Release on PC: New Features and Release Date Revealed

After much speculation, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be released for PC later this year. Here’s the release date, as well as new features specific to PC hardware. Here’s everything you need to know.

Ghost of Tsushima was originally released as one of the final PS4 first-party games of 2020. The following year it would receive a Director’s Cut edition for PS5 owners with expanded features and new content, as well as a DLC campaign.

Sony is bringing Ghost of Tsushima to PC

After rumors that the game would be coming to other platforms, Sony has announced that Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will also be coming to PC. The action-adventure game set in the late Kamakura era of Japan, during the Mongol invasion of the island of Tsushima. The player takes on the role of Jin Sakai, a samurai warrior who defends himself against the invaders. The game features an open world for players to explore, as well as a variety of combat and stealth elements. It received praise for its graphics, gameplay, and depiction of Japanese culture. At the same time it was interesting for several different fan communities, Japan fans and Souls-Like fans were very well served and there was also a pinch of Assasin’s Creed!

When is the release date?

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be released for PC on May 16, 2024. It is currently available for pre-order on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The port is being developed by Nixxes, a studio with experience in PC ports. The company is also responsible for the upcoming PC port of Horizon Forbidden West and is also owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The first official trailer for Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut for PC was released on March 6, 2024 and can be viewed below. He highlights some of the game’s new PC-specific features, including ultra-wide resolutions, Nvidia Reflex Low Latency support and upscaling technologies. The trailer also shows that all content from the PS5 version of the game will be available here, including the Iki Island expansion, Legends multiplayer mode, and Kurosawa mode.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut adds a host of new features exclusive to the PC version, taking advantage of the hardware and software of those with the capabilities. Here is the full list of features announced by Sony:

  • NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3 upscaling and frame generation options
  • NVIDIA DLAA or FSR 3 Native AA quality options
  • Steam input controller mapping
  • PlayStation DualSense support for haptic feedback and adaptive triggers
