The technique, which combines body control, breathing and relaxation, helps to increase strength, develop elasticity and achieve greater body awareness.


FUNCTIONAL AND CALISTHENICS

As regards the functional activity the Palestra Kumiai organizes courses on:

  • CALISTHENICS. Calisthenics is a free body workout that develops powerful muscles. It is a method that uses exclusively the weight of the body as resistance and can include simple tools such as fixed or mobile bars, wall bars and parallel bars. They are functional exercises inspired by artistic gymnastics.
  • TABATA TRAINING. Very intense form of anaerobic cardiovascular training in interval training. Reduce fat mass and improve aerobic and anaerobic capacity by performing a high intensity exercise for 20-30 seconds, alternating it with moderate intensity phases – i.e. active recovery – for approximately 90 seconds on the same exercise.
  • CIRCUIT AND TRX. Work simultaneously on strength, balance, flexibility and stability. It is carried out using a tool made up of cables, brackets, handles and a harness so that the athlete trains using his own body weight in dynamic and complete suspension. The ideal blend of support and mobility to train strength, endurance, coordination, flexibility, strengthening and core stability.
  • FUNCTIONAL TRAINING. Improves the body as a whole by developing strength, agility, speed, resistance, power, coordination.
  • FUNCTIONAL GAG. Review of GAG (legs, abdominals, buttocks) training from a functional perspective. Improves and strengthens the muscular system, toning the affected muscles, including arms, chest and back.


MARTIAL ARTS

  • JUDO. A Japanese martial art, combat sport and self-defense method suitable for children and adults.
  • MUAY THAI. Martial art and full contact combat sport that has its origins in the ancient Thai wrestling technique. Utilizes a wide range of standing drumming and ground grappling techniques. The discipline is known as “the art of the eight weapons” or “the science of the eight limbs” because it allows the two contestants who challenge each other to use combinations of punches, kicks, elbows and knees, therefore eight parts of the body used as points of contact.
  • K1 RULES. Discipline born in the early nineties whose main purpose is to pit athletes from different martial arts (such as Karate, Muay Thai and Taekwondo). It is considered the most complete discipline of all as it is possible to hit with all the punches of boxing and also the punch-turn thrown with the back of the hand is allowed, with all types of kicks and it is also possible to hit with the knees.
