After the great encouragement against France at the European Championship, the German national team has to step up immediately. The DFB selection takes on the Netherlands. It will be a signpost as to whether the team is actually ready for the spectacle in the summer. All information about the game here in the ticker.

In their second test match of the year before the European Football Championship in the summer, the German national team will face the Dutch team this Tuesday evening (8:45 p.m., here in the WELT ticker). The national coach is not planning any changes to personnel for the prestigious duel in Frankfurt’s European Championship stadium.

“Everyone is fit. The same first eleven is planned,” said Nagelsmann on Monday before the final training session – and kept his word. The team that also impressed against the runner-up world champions is playing against Holland. In France, the national team showed its best performance in years on Saturday and won 2-0 against the European Championship favorites.

The DFB team will wear the much-discussed pink jerseys for the first time. The game against Oranje is the last test before the squad nomination in May, where Nagelsmann will decide on his 23 tournament players.

Record national player Lothar Matthäus raved about the German team after the impressive friendly win in France. “It all fits together,” said Matthäus on Tuesday at a sponsorship meeting in Frankfurt am Main. Germany has a team that can not only become European champions, but that “must become European champions,” said the 63-year-old a few hours before the friendly.

Matthäus was particularly enthusiastic about returnee Toni Kroos, who stood out in the 2-0 win in Lyon. “Toni Kroos is indispensable in Ancelotti’s team at Real Madrid. Julian Nagelsmann positioned him from the start so that he was the leader. He sets the rhythm and tries to stabilize the defense. It’s like playing chess: no move that is unnecessary. I saw a lot of passes into the offensive field, that’s what sets him apart,” said Matthäus about Kroos.

The 1990 world champion expressed confidence for the European Championships (June 14th to July 14th) in Germany. “This is the right way. The German team showed more potential than in previous games. We have excellent players, we have young players. We have experienced players who have won everything,” said Matthäus. In the preliminary round, the DFB team will face Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland.
