Germans Zverev and Koepfer Advance to Round of 16 in Florida, Alcaraz Continues Success

With Olympic champion Alexander Zverev and Dominik Koepfer, two Germans are in the round of 16 in Florida. In the round of the last 16, number four seed Zverev will play against Karen Khachanov from Russia on Tuesday.

Koepfer will also face a top Russian player from 5:00 p.m., Daniil Medvedev.

In the women’s category, world number one Iga Swiatek was surprisingly eliminated in the round of 16. The Pole, who recently won the start of the “Sunshine Double” in Indian Wells, lost to the Russian Jekaterina Alexandrova 4:6, 2:6.

“I’m disappointed because I thought I would play better here,” Swiatek said after the game.

Alcaraz continues its wave of success

Carlos Alcaraz, second in the world rankings, has reached the round of 16 in the men’s category. The Spaniard won 6:2, 6:4 against Frenchman Gaël Monfils.

In an entertaining match with some spectacular shots, the Indian Wells winner secured success after 1:13 hours.

“It’s always great to share the court with Gaël. I think we both bring great tennis and great shots to the match. It’s great for the fans to see us both playing great tennis. So they have Enjoy tennis,” said the 20-year-old after his victory.

Alcaraz will now face Lorenzo Musetti in the round of 16. The number 23 seeded Italian stopped the American Ben Shelton 6:4, 7:6 (7:5).
