Georgia Trevor Etienne arrested on DUI and reckless driving charges

New Georgia running back Trevor Etienne faces DUI and reckless driving charges after an arrest Sunday morning, according to Athens-Clarke County police records. Set at 4:35 a.m., Etienne was released an hour later after posting a total bond of $1,883. He faces four misdemeanors in total, including failure to maintain lane/improper driving on highway and placing materials that reduce window/windshield visibility.

Etienne notably transferred to Georgia this offseason after serving as a key piece of rival Florida’s backfield duo, alongside Montrell Johnson, over the past two seasons. He is expected to compete for the starting job with Georgia this fall, helping a Bulldogs team that will likely enter 2024 as the preseason No. 1 team.

With spring training already underway in Athens, Kirby Smart spoke positively about Etienne’s transition to a new team, noting that “running back is one of the positions you can learn very quickly.” Georgia has been waiting for Etienne, who totaled 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns during his two years with Florida, to fill a huge production hole following last year’s departures from the 2024 NFL Draft. With Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards in the pros, there are plenty of carries and yards available in an offense that will be led by one of the best quarterbacks in the country: Carson Beck.
