French Tennis Player Arthur Cazaux Faints During Miami Tennis Masters Qualifiers

A dramatic moment occurred in the qualifiers of the Miami Tennis Masters, in which the Frenchman Arthur Cazaux fainted in the middle of the match against Harold Mayot, forcing him to retire during the third set.

“Unfortunately, because of this mishap, the player Arthur Cazaux must withdraw from the match,” the chair umpire announced after doctors examined the French tennis player.

Footage posted on social media shows Cazaux falling to the ground as he begins to prepare for his opponent to serve with a 2-1 lead in the third set.

In the video, Cazaux loses his balance to his left side and remains face up, while assistance took just a few seconds to appear.

On his Instagram account, Arthur Cazaux thanked the signs of concern and assured that he was discharged from the hospital after spending the night there and undergoing various tests. His blood pressure and heart rate did not present abnormalities, so the doctors recommended rest.

It is believed that one of the reasons for Cazaux’s fainting could have been the high temperatures in Florida, since the 31 degrees under which they played, the high UV index and the humidity factor are exhausting even for professional athletes.

They criticize Cazaux’s rival for ‘little empathy’

Harold Mayot, who initially remained at the back of the pitch while Cazaux received medical attention, attracted criticism on social media for his apparent lack of understanding of the situation, with one fan describing his initial lack of reaction as “disgusting”.

But Mayot, who can be seen in another clip approaching to check on Cazaux, responded. “Stop starting a false controversy for nothing. “He hadn’t felt well for several games and was starting to have cramps.”

“I didn’t see him fall and I thought he was lying down because he had a cramp. When I understood that it was serious, I immediately went to him and I was very worried,” said Mayot, who will face the Belgian David Goffin to seek a place in the main draw of the Miami Open.
