French Elite and Adult Shooting Championship: Day 1 Recap and Tomorrow’s Finalists

This Friday, March 1, 64 Elite archers and 67 Senior 3 archers (recurve and compound bow) took part in the French Elite and Adult Shooting Championship at 18m at Vendéspace in Mouilleron-le-Captif. The salty air works quite well with favorites and also causes a few surprises. After this first day of competition, tomorrow’s Elite finalists are already known.

In the Elite category, in recurve bow, Sam Herlicq (Mouans Sartoux), who came 1st in qualifying shots at 591, achieved a solid quarter-final against his opponent Anthony Barber (Brienon on Armançon) (7-1). Unfortunately for him, after a very tight shoot-off arrow, the archer from Mouans Sartoux lost against Emilien Cheneau (Chambéry). He will find Florian Bossard (Issy-les-Moulineaux) (2nd in qualifications) for bronze. For the final, Emilien Cheneau will be confronted with Florent Mulot (Draveil Sénart).

On the women’s side, the quarter-final did not succeed in Lucrezia Scheppers (Rennes), 1st in qualifying, who lost against Anais Vignon (Chambéry)(2-6). For Louise Botte (Brienon on Armançon), the time for revenge will not yet have come. She loses to Johanna Lepron (Compiègne) in the semi-final after having released a volley at 26 which will be fatal. She will therefore meet Anais for bronze. We will therefore have a 100% new final pitting Johanna against Marion Bardary (Auros), freshly won a silver and bronze medal at the military world championship, who will continue her momentum and do everything to win gold.

In compound arch, Nicolas Girard (St. Martin de Crau) will have mastered his subject from A to Z by finishing 1st in the qualifications, achieving three almost perfect scores of 149 points in his matches. Without much surprise, he will meet an opponent he knows well in the final this Sunday, Adrien Gontier (Compiègne), who also had a serious and diligent first day of competition. In particular, it eliminates Quentin Baraer (Rennes) in the semi-final and won 148 to 147. The Rennes archer will try to win a bronze medal tomorrow against Morgan Lecauchois (Wingles).

In women, Marion Girard (St. Martin de Crau) created a surprise by eliminating Léa Girault (Compiègne) in the semi-final with a score of 147 to 146 after finishing 4th in the qualifying shots. She will face Sandra Hervé (Draveil Sénart), 2nd in qualifying, in the final. Léa Giraultfor its part, will be confronted with Tiphaine Renaudin (Mont St Aignan). Both will give their best to win the bronze medal.

In a bare bow, no false note for David Jackson (Laurens) who made short work of their opponents during the matches (6-0 in the quarter and 7-3 in the half). He will face Nicolas Duriveau (Ardin) in the final. For the bronze medal, Vincent Houdart (St Afrique), 3rd in the qualifications, will be opposed to Gilles Guiriec (Riec sur Belon).

Among the women, directly qualified in the semi-finals, Noémie Richard (Carquefou) wins against Marine Girard (La Croix en Touraine) (6-2). Sandrine Dupond (La Crèche), for its part, eliminates the big favorite Virginie Chevrier (Lons le Saunier) with a score of 7-3. A thrilling finale awaits Noémie Richard et Sandrine Dupond. The battle for the bronze medal will be between Marine Girard has Virginie Chevrier.
