French Athletes Voted for Flag Bearers for 2024 Olympics: Here’s the Podium

Clarisse Agbégnénou (judo, 26%) ahead of Wendie Renard (football, 23%) and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (cycling, 19%) among women, Teddy Riner (judo, 37%) ahead of Florent Manadoudou (swimming, 29%) and Kevin Mayer (decathlon, 24%) among men: here is the podium for the French when asked who they prefer to hold the flag of France during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games this summer, on Friday July 26.

More it is not the general public who will have the heavy task of deciding : it is the athletes who will nominate one and one of their peers, and they will not be able to practice the same discipline. The French generally approve of the criteria set by the CNOSF to be a standard bearer, with the exception of having already participated in an Olympiad.

They also consider that it is normal for athletes to choose flag bearers (67%). Only one quality really counts in their eyes to play this role: be a unifying personality appreciated by other athletes (68%).

Here are the main lessons from the latest survey carried out by Odoxa for Keneo and RTL. The survey was carried out using the internet quota method on Tuesday March 19 and Wednesday March 20, 2024 among a sample of 1,005 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, including 595 sports fans.
