Frédéric Fauthoux after Bourg-en-Bresse’s victory against Besiktas: “We didn’t panic”

Frédéric Fauthoux (coach of Bourg-en-Bresse, winner of Besiktas in match 1 of the Eurocup semi-finals): “We put in the necessary intensity from the start. During its first two rounds of the final phase (round of 16 and quarter-finals), Besiktas was trailing at half-time and like this evening (Tuesday evening), they came back (60-56, 29th) thanks to a lot of toughness. We had prepared for it but it is not easy to reproduce it in a match. I think we didn’t panic, we found some good shots, some small exploits. That’s what makes us win matches like that.

We will travel tomorrow (Wednesday) to Istanbul. It will be a whole room against us, I think (smile). Real group, club, team moments by going to play in such an atmosphere but we go there as conquerors. »

Zaccharie Risacher (JL Bourg winger): “We still have one match to win, it’s not over. The best is yet to come. Being able to play at this level, in this room, with this challenge, is everything a basketball player can dream of. We will try to win (Friday) to prolong this feeling. (On his two three-pointers in the last quarter) I showed up for my team, that’s what I have to do. There are lots of things to rework, together, it wasn’t perfect. We will give everything to win in Istanbul. »

Jeremy Morgan (back of JL Bourg): “It’s a great victory against a very physical team. We will have to refocus, rest because we have another challenge on Friday (in Istanbul, match 2). We will have to continue what we have been doing since the start of the season. It will be a very difficult environment, they have incredible fans and they play particularly well at home. We will have to be mentally ready. »

Dusan Alimpjevic (Besiktas coach): “Bourg played a very physical match and we were soft. We haven’t stopped their fast play at all and as soon as they can develop it, they become very dangerous. We must analyze and correct these errors, do everything to come back here (possible match 3 next Wednesday). We will have the support of 17,000 people. »
