Former Belarusian Hockey Player Konstantins Koltsovs Commits Suicide: Tennis Star Sabalenka Reacts on Instagram

It has already been reported that Konstantins Koltsovs, a former Belarusian hockey player and coach of this country’s national team, committed suicide at the age of 42.

Representatives of the US Miami-Dade County Police said that Koltsov hit himself by jumping from the balcony.

Koltsov previously had a romantic relationship with tennis star Sabalenka, who is competing in the WTA 1000 series tournament in Miami this week.

Sabalenka made a comment on her “Instagram” profile about the suicide of her ex-spouse.

“Konstantin’s death is an unimaginable tragedy. I wish we were no longer together, my heart is broken,” said the Belarusian tennis player.

“Please respect my privacy and that of his family during this difficult time,” Sabalenka said while addressing the public.

The first round of the Miami tournament was free for Sabalenka, while in the second round on Friday she is scheduled to meet the Spanish tennis player Paula Bados (WTA 80).

Sabalenka previously announced that she will participate in the Miami tournament despite the tragedy.

“This is a very difficult situation. I spoke with him yesterday and this morning. I am aware of the situation and I know everything that is happening,” Bados was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“I’m also a bit shocked, because she is my best friend – I don’t want her to suffer,” said the Spanish tennis player.
