The Polish national soccer team wins its playoff semi-final against Estonia 5-1. Georgia, Greece, Iceland, Wales and Ukraine are also in the finals.

Robert Lewandowski and the Polish national football team can still hope to take part in the European Championship in Germany. The Poles won their playoff semi-final against Estonia 5-1 (1-0) in Warsaw.

Georgia (2-0 against Luxembourg), Greece (5-0 against Kazakhstan), Iceland (4-1 against Israel), Wales (4-1 against Finland) and Ukraine (2-1 against Bosnia-Herzegovina) also sat down through.

On Tuesday there will be the finals of Wales against Poland, Ukraine against Iceland and Georgia against Greece. The winners of these three encounters will win the last tickets to the European Championship.

The Poles took the lead with a goal from Przemyslaw Frankowski (22nd minute). The hosts also benefited from the early yellow-red card against the Estonian midfielder Maksim Paskotsi (27th). Piotr Zielinski (50th), Jakub Piotrowski (70th) and Sebastian Szymanski (77th) scored the other goals for Poland. In addition, Estonia’s captain Karol Mets, who is under contract with second division leaders FC St. Pauli, scored an own goal (74th). Martin Vetkal scored the guests’ consolation goal (78′).

Spanish referee Jose Maria Sanchez took center stage in Georgia’s home win. After looking at the video images, he took back Luxembourg’s supposed equalizer by Gerson Rodrigues. Maxime Chanot had previously prevented Georges Mikautadze from scoring a goal. The Luxembourger was shown a red card for this. In the final phase of the game, Ukraine turned a 0-1 deficit against the Bosnians into a 2-1 win.
