For neo-coach Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace (14th in the table) there are trend-setting games in the fight against relegation in the next few days. Eight points currently separate the teams.

Crystal Palace have been waiting for a win in Nottingham for 13 years (1-0 in December 2011), their last home win was more than 20 years ago (1-0 in December 2003). The only duel so far in the current Premier League season ended 0-0 at Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park.

Glasner is not irritated by the past. “We’re going to Nottingham to win. Our approach is: Concentrate on football, points should be the result,” said Glasner in an ORF interview.

Three games, four points

He had four points in his first three games with Crystal Palace. The only win (3-0) was against relegation candidate Burnley, the defeat against Tottenham was followed by an unfortunate 1-1 draw after taking the lead against Luton Town.

On Tuesday, Crystal Palace and Glasner will play in Bournemouth (13th) before Manchester City comes to London on Saturday. The duel with Liverpool continues prominently afterwards. “It’s happening in quick succession,” said Glasner. “But we are well prepared.” There are still ten laps to complete.

Crystal Palace meets Nottingham

Crucial games await Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace in the fight to stay in the Premier League.

The 49-year-old Upper Austrian took over from Roy Hodgson in mid-February. The club’s separation from the 76-year-old coaching legend was announced immediately beforehand. This is Glasner’s first engagement since leaving Eintracht Frankfurt around nine months ago.

Only on Sunday will the top teams get involved in the current three-way battle for the English title. Leaders Arsenal visit defending champions ManCity (6.30 p.m.), before Liverpool, currently level on points with Arsenal in second place, host Brighton & Hove Albion (3 p.m.).
