The Spanish Fernando Alonso has exploded against the FIA after the sanction that has made him go from sixth at the finish line to eighth after being sanctioned with a 20-second penalty in the Australian Grand Prix. According to the FIA version for “dangerous driving”, something that has made Fernando Alonso explode on social networks.
This is how Alonso expressed it:
“Double points for the team and a better race pace than the rest of the weekend allowed us to cross the finish line in sixth and seventh position. A little surprised by a late-race penalty on how we should approach the curves or how we should drive race cars,” the Asturian began by saying in a message published on his official social media account.
At no time do we want to do anything wrong at these speeds. I think that without gravel in that corner, in any other corner of the world we will never even be investigated. In F1, with more than 20 years of experience, with epic duels like Imola 2005/2006/Brazil 2023, changing routes, sacrificing entry speed to have good corner exits is part of the art of motorsport.”
Fernando also analyzed the race, before being sanctioned, on DAZN: “I saw that Checo was going a little faster and that we could stay in the DRS and logically I was at the pace of Sergio, who was older than mine and benefited, so we tried to play a little.”
