FC Bayern Munich sails into Champions League quarters with 3-0 win, giving relief to coach and star player

Big relief at FC Bayern Munich. With a convincing 3-0 win against Lazio Rome, the German record champions reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The outgoing coach Thomas Tuchel (50) got some breathing room. In the run-up to the game on Tuesday evening (March 5, 2024), he showed so much effort in his motivational speech that he probably broke his big toe when he kicked a door. Tuchel openly admitted that the victory was good for the hearts of everyone in the team.

Harry Kane exposes Liverpool legend as a liar

Harry Kane (30) must also have taken a load off his heart. The striker moved from Tottenham Hotspur to FC Bayern in the summer in order to finally win titles. Now, at least in the premier class – even if the competition is of course strong – there is still the possibility. The Champions League final will take place at Wembley Stadium in Kane’s hometown of London.

In an interview with Amazon Prime Video, Kane spoke of a “perfect night” after the game, which he had a significant influence on with his brace. His appearance on US television took a different turn…

The British TV presenter Kate Abdo (42), also known from Germany, confronted Kane on CBS in the interview with a claim made by expert Jamie Carragher (46). “He said before the game that he called you this week and spoke to you. Is that right or wrong?” the former “Sky Sport News” presenter wanted to know.

“That’s not true,” replied Kane – triggering hysterical laughter in the US broadcaster’s studio. In addition to Abdo and Liverpool legend Carragher, ex-professionals Thierry Henry (46) and Micah Richards (35) were also somewhat stunned in the studio.

“Don’t do this to me!” Carragher shouted. “I tell everyone in America that we are friends and have a great relationship. I can’t believe you just did that to me.”

Kane’s dry answer: “We are friends, but I won’t lie on national television.” Abdo then asked whether Carragher even had Kane’s number. “We sometimes exchange ideas on Twitter,” says Kane. “We’re Twitter friends,” Carragher claimed. However, Abdo made it clear that this was not a real friendship. After all, says Carragher, the two had spoken to each other twelve months ago: “Well, maybe I didn’t tell the whole truth.”

The two “Twitter friends” then continued their conversation in their natural habitat.

“Sorry Carra, the truth always comes out,” wrote the Bayern striker on the platform, which is now officially called X. “Sorry Harry, I wanted to impress my American viewers,” the former England international replied ruefully.
