Despite his players’ successful run, coach Alexander Straus from FC Bayern has warned about the upcoming task in the DFB Cup. “I expect a close game,” said Straus, looking at semi-final opponent Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday (3:45 p.m./ARD and Sky). “They have some strengths and we have to control them. If we can do that, then we will do well.”
The Norwegian explained that Frankfurt is a “fantastic team” that has “a lot of quality”, especially in the attack around national player Laura Freigang: “If we lose the ball too easily, then they can hurt us a lot in the transition game.” But his team also knows their own quality: “We have confidence in ourselves.”
While the Munich team is currently on course for another championship in the league as the undefeated defending champions, their only cup victory to date was twelve years ago.
