Against Lazio Rome it is not just about what is probably the last chance for the title of the season for Munich. What is also at stake is what once made FC Bayern famous and infamous.
In February, the German footballer, who on a good day can probably be more exciting than anyone else of his generation, stood at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome – and spoke about his football team, which was anything but exciting in the days and weeks before.
But on this evening, when the first round of 16 game of the Champions League against Lazio Rome was taking place, midfielder Leon Goretzka and FC Bayern Munich were finally there again. His team, he said later as he stood in the interview zone of the stadium, immediately got into “matchday mode” and was immediately aggressive. And consequently, in the 63rd minute, when Goretzka was substituted, they were already leading 4-1.
