FC Barcelona is apparently not planning a major transfer offensive next summer. President Joan Laporta announced “one or two” new additions, but there is not supposed to be a high-profile PR à la Kylian Mbappé, who will most likely move from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid.

“We don’t need any big signings. There will be changes, but I don’t expect big ones, just team players,” Laporta said in an interview with “Sports world“. “Those like Lamine (Yamal), Lewandowski, João Félix, Ferran (Torres) and Raphinha, who are developing well and continue to enrich the team. And then ‘Tigrinho’ (meaning winter purchase Vitor Roque; editor’s note), who, like all Brazilians who come to Europe, is in a process of adjustment,” said the club boss, who is also looking forward to his return the currently injured “world-class players” Frenkie de Jong and Pedri were relegated.

FC Barcelona: President Laporta on Ansu Fati and possible player sales

The 61-year-old was only vague about the future of offensive player Ansu Fati, who is on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion. “Ansu Fati has finally returned from his injury, Bojan (loan player manager Krkic; editor) is watching him. We will see what happens with Brighton at the end of the season,” said Laporta. “He is expected to come back as it is part of the agreement with Brighton, but let’s see.”

The 21-year-old Fati has missed 14 competitive games this season due to an Achilles tendon injury. Brighton was unable to secure a purchase option for the right-footed player, whose Barça contract runs until 2027. Fati was considered a dream player by “Seagulls” coach Roberto De Zerbi.

Laporta revealed that Barcelona does not rely on making money from top performers. “We don’t want to sell a big player.” The Catalans are not dependent on sales “if everything goes according to plan with our goals.”
