Grosseto: BBC Grosseto and YMCA Francisco Cervelli Academy presented on Friday morning, in the “Fabrizio Masini” press room at the Roberto Jannella stadium, an increasingly stringent collaboration agreement, with the aim of creating a Grosseto school that can allow the red and white club to have a continuous turnover of young people in the first team.
«Our company – said the marketing officer of the BBC Grosseto, Claudio Banchi – has structured itself and started a new path no more than four years ago. We were a group of friends, who had the pleasure of carrying forward and relaunching the historic BBC Grosseto brand, through the creation of a team that has been participating in the Serie A championship for three years now. However, we cannot stop here. Our goal is to have a youth sector that can act as a reservoir for the first team. There is a common perspective with the YMCA Academy: on our part there is an interest in having resources for the first team, on the part of the YMCA to give a future, an outlet to these kids who are already doing an activity youthful with them. Our goal is to also field the under 12s as well as the under 15s and under 18s and to start a mini baseball activity specifically for recruiting purposes. We are also thinking about baseball5, which could be a valid tool for recruiting kids through school.”
The technical director of the YMCA, Gianni Natale underlined that the agreement gives «concrete objectives to young people who are following a path, which we believe is the right one, from the point of view of identification of possible youth talents, development of talent youth and then the ultimate goal is to join the senior team of the most prestigious team in the city of Grosseto. This prestige is also demonstrated by the presence of Beppe Massellucci; it is a prestige that I was lucky enough to experience firsthand in the twenty years or so in which I acted as an athletic trainer at the BBC and it is a prestige that has every intention of renewing itself, re-presenting itself and consolidating itself in the years to come. It is a source of pride to see our young people aiming to be part of a winning group, a company that represents our city, as their ultimate goal.”
Vice President Sandro Chimenti and Beppe Massellucci were also present at the press conference. «And our image man – said Banchi – is an important figure, because he demonstrates the connection between the past tradition of the BBC Grosseto and what we are returning to being at this moment. He can represent an emblematic figure who will also help us in our project to get young people involved in baseball again.”
FRIENDLY. Meanwhile, on Saturday from 1.30pm, BBC Grosseto will play their second friendly season at the Jannella stadium, challenging their cousins from BSC. Carletti and Vaglio return.
