The European Sports Days 2024 return to Castiglione della Pescaia, now in their ninth edition. From March to December a succession of sporting appointments and events that will follow the tourist seasonality of the area, an event that over the years is taking on increasingly national and international importance. “We started with events in the spring months, then with this Administration we doubled them by identifying two blocks, one pre-summer and one autumn – said Mayor Elena Nappi – this year Easter which falls so early has led us to have events starting today, continuing throughout the spring, summer and autumn period until mid-December, with a succession of events. Therefore, this sporting event has become an increasingly continuous flow and we hope it will be able to cover twelve months of the year “. We start today with three recreational-sports events: the Truffle Search Championship in the Selene Pine Forest, the regatta at the Castiglione della Pescaia Sailing Club and the Austrian team spring training baseball meeting at Casa Mora. “The European Sports Days – declares Tourism Councilor Susanna Lorenzini – are a very important and deseasonalising event for tourism in our territory; an event that goes beyond classic summer tourism, which the administration has been aiming for for a long time now” . Among the scheduled events there will be La Maremmana Ciclostorica (19-20-21 April); The stage of the Eroica Juniores Nation Cup will start from the tip of Ala (17-18 April) with the young promises of world cycling. There will be many sailing events, but golf, baseball and hockey will also be protagonists with many events. Among the new features this year are the International Beach Tennis Tournament (from 23 to 26 May) and the Italian Engineers Football Championships (from 6 to 9 June). There will be no shortage of events dedicated to Ambrogio Fogar, celebrating the 50th anniversary of his extraordinary sailing feat which started right from Castiglione della Pescaia.
