EUROPE LEAGUE. Mile Svilar and scoring Romelu Lukaku take the lead against Brighton, Clement and Dessers give up the lead twice against Benfica

Svilar and Lukaku play against Brighton

From a Belgian point of view, Roma-Brighton was the best match to watch, because with Mile Svilar in goal and Romelu Lukaku in the striker, two compatriots were in the starting line-up for the home team. The two Belgians saw how Paulo Dybala gave Roma the lead after just twelve minutes. The Argentinian was sent deep, rounded the keeper and put the ball into the goal. The linesman had (wrongly) seen offside, but VAR intervened: 1-0 for Roma. Lukaku doubled the lead just before half time. He punished a mistake by Brighton defender Lewis Dunk and kicked in low into the corner.

Leverkusen almost chokes on Qarabag

Leverkusen, undefeated for an entire season, which will face small Qarabag at home: few observers believed that the leader in the Bundesliga would have a hard time against the Azerbaijani club. And yet it was Qarabag that led 2-0 at half time. Leverkusen, which had won 5-1 at home against Qarabag in the group stage, scored the tying goal through Florian Wirtz twenty minutes before the end. Philippe Clement and Cyriel Dessers give up the lead twice against Benfica

Later in the evening, two more Belgians played in the Europa League. One coaching on the sidelines, the other in the striker: Philippe Clement and Cyriel Dessers visited Benfica with the Rangers. And the match couldn’t have started better for our compatriots, because after seven minutes Tom Lawrence gave the team from Scotland the lead. In the added time of the first half, Angel Di Maria brought the Portuguese level again from the spot, but thanks to a goal from Dujon Sterling, the Rangers still went into the dressing room with a lead. In the second half, Benfica came alongside again thanks to an own goal by Connor Goldson, and the final score was 2-2.
