Marvin Harrison Jr. Joins Arizona Cardinals as Fourth Overall Pick in 2024 Draft

The wide receiver from Ohio State will reinforce the Arizona offense after being drafted with the fourth overall pick

The NFL has a new member of the Harrison family in its ranks.

This Thursday the Arizona Cardinals they drafted the wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the No. 4 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 Draft.

Marvin Harrison Jr. was a star in his three seasons at Ohio State, accumulating 155 receptions for 2,613 yards with 31 touchdowns, plus he had four carries for 58 yards and a rushing score.

In his collegiate career he was awarded the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the best wide receiver in college football, and he was unanimously elected to the first team All-American in 2022 and 2023.

This is just the third time the Cardinals have taken a top-five wide receiver in the common draft era, joining Larry Fitzgerald (No. 3 in 2004) and Ahmad Rashad (No. 4 in 1972).

Marvin Harrison Jr.’s arrival in Arizona represents a boost to an offense that finished 30th in the NFL in receptions (157), receiving yards (1,790) and receiving percentage (57 percent) last season.

For its part, Ohio State tied Tennessee as the program with the most wide receivers drafted in the first round in the common draft era with 11.

Marvin Harrison Jr., who declared eligible for the 2024 draft as a junior, decided not to participate in the scouting combine drills or Ohio State’s pro day.

“We decided what’s best for us to prepare for the NFL season, not to prepare for the combine, pro day or anything like that,” he said, according to NBCSports.com.

Marvin Harrison Sr. played in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts between 1996 and 2008, winning a Super Bowl, and was elected to the All-Pro first team three times, to the Pro Bowl eight times, and in 2016 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Fame.

This is the fifth time that the son of a Hall of Fame member has been chosen in the first round of the draft and the first since 2014 with Jake Matthews, son of Bruce Matthews.
