After the lucky quarter-finals, Bayer Leverkusen continues in the Europa League against West Ham. The Premier League club had eliminated Freiburg.

Bayer Leverkusen will face Freiburg conquerors West Ham United in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Should the winner of the Europa League’s predecessor competition, the UEFA Cup, from 1988 make it to the semi-finals, the winner of the Italian duel AC Milan and AS Roma would be the opponent. This was the result of the draw on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland. The quarter-finals will be played on April 11th and 18th.

“It will be a difficult task,” said Bayer sports director Simon Rolfes. “West Ham has an atmospheric stadium, and after Baku we now have a short journey to London – that’s also nice for our fans.”

The league leaders in the Bundesliga made it into the round of the last eight with a lot of effort on Thursday. Against Karabakh Agdam from Azerbaijan, Bayer only secured a 3-2 victory in the second leg of the round of 16 with two goals in stoppage time. Leverkusen also overcame a 2-0 deficit in both games. West Ham eliminated SC Freiburg in the round of 16.
