End of an era: Nike supplants Adidas in the Mannschaft

Nike has been pulling on the sleeves of German football players for some time now. Now the time has come.

With a deal from 2027, the Americans will dethrone Adidas in their own country. In any case, until 2034, the Germans will play football with the swoosh and not with the 3 stripes.

“Nike came up with the best offer by far financially,” said Holger Blask, the CEO of the German Football Association.

Adidas and the Germany national team are almost synonymous. The men won their 4 World Cups and 3 European titles all wearing equipment from the well-known sports brand. The women played 2 World Cups and 8 European titles in an Adidas outfit.

“German football owes a lot to Adidas,” said DFB chairman Bernd Neuendorf. “We will do our utmost to highlight this successful collaboration until the end of 2026.”

The European Championships for men will take place in Germany next summer. The German Football Association has 7 million members.
