Empowering Women: Department of Equality Continues Programming for March 8 with Workshops and Activities

The Department of Equality will continue next week with the programming of activities for March 8, after several days of workshops, talks and meetings between neighbors of all ages.

A training workshop is planned for next Wednesday, the 13th, to learn the use of Artificial Intelligence, which will be led by Manuel Corraliza. The activity is carried out through the Conectadas Program, which aims to reduce the digital gender gap in rural areas.

On Tuesday, the 12th, the Equality Office of the Tajo Salor Commonwealth will offer a laughter therapy workshop at 5:30 p.m. at the cultural house. For its part, on the 22nd the reading club will host a meeting with the writer Luz Milagros Moreno, from Arroyo de la Luz, and author of the book ‘La Luz de mi vida’.

During this week, residents have been able to attend different talks to raise awareness of the role of women in different areas.

Last Friday, International Women’s Day, the educational centers came together for another year in a joint meeting to demand equality, this year with the motto ‘Equality in sport’. Last Friday they did it in the José Cortés Park. The three educational centers have worked for several days to promote women in the sporting field, more specifically, their achievements in the Olympic Games over the years. The IESO Vía de la Plata has organized the I Inclusive and Co-educational Olympics, in the modalities of cycling, athletics, badminton and volleyball. In the afternoon a boxing workshop was held with the presence of some young winners from Spain in this modality.

On the other hand, several activities and workshops have been carried out under the motto ‘Real equality’. The Official Chronicler of the town, Rosa Holgado, delved into the lives of some Casaro women throughout history. She also had the involvement of two local businesswomen who have shared her experience promoting her business. The Day Center and the Active Seniors Program of the Popular University have also worked with this topic and different activities have been developed, among them, the viewing of videos with the women of the protagonists.

The Councilor for Equality herself, Sandra Tovar, as a professional in the field of psychology, gave a talk on the management of emotions and emotional well-being. “They have been made for people of all ages and topics such as the body, mind, emotions or business and sport in equality have been touched upon, as well as the autonomy of the individual,” said Tovar.
