According to information from La Dépêche du Midi, the organizers of the Route d’Occitanie took the decision this Tuesday evening to cancel the 48th edition of the event, initially scheduled for next June. Already reduced to 2 days of racing – instead of 4 -, the Route d’Occitanie ends up suffering the same fate as the CIC Mont Ventoux, also deleted from the 2024 calendar.
Still according to the Dépêche du Midi, the organizers faced great reluctance on the part of the prefectures, particularly because of the exceptional mobilization of the police just before the Olympic Games. The race that crowned Michael Woods last season will return in 2025.
