Donovan Carrillo conquers the Skating World Cup to the rhythm of Pedro Infante – El Sol de México

Donovan Carrillo achieved a personal best by scoring 152.48 points in the free skate at the World Figure Skating Championships held in Montreal, Canada.

Carrillo finished in 15th place in the classification to confirm himself as the best Mexican athlete in this discipline.

Donovan, in the short program, scored 80.19 which allowed him to advance to the final of the competition in which 40 athletes participated and only 24 advanced to the decisive stage.

He did it to the rhythm of Bésame mucho by Pedro Infante and had a high score even though he made a mistake in the routine. The best mark he had achieved in a short program was at the 2022 Winter Olympics with 79.69 units.

While in the long routine, he added 152.48 to total 232.67 points and make the best record of his sporting career.

“This is the competition that I have enjoyed the most in my life and I want to keep this feeling in my heart forever. I want to thank a lot to all the public that supported me in the stands, I will try much harder in the coming years and I already want to see what is in front of me,” said Donovan in the mixed zone for Golden Skate.

“After the injury I am hungrier for victory, I just want to improve more and that is why I moved to Canada. “I am very grateful to my coaches who, more than that, are life mentors,” he added.

With participation in this event, Donovan concludes the 2023-2024 season. He will begin his preparation for the Winter Olympic Games that will take place in Milan-Cortina in 2026.
