Dominic Thiem will only play again in Estoril
Diminic Thiem’s idea of gaining match practice and self-confidence in three Challengers in a row – on clay too – was certainly the right one. However, after Szekesfehervar’s exit in round one against Daniel Michalski was already a setback, the next defeat was just around the corner yesterday in Zadar. This time against compatriot Lukas Neumayer. And with 2:6 and 1:6 pretty clear.
Which apparently caused Dominic Thiem to step on the brake pedal. He will not play in Naples as originally planned.
Dominic Thiem’s next appearance should be at the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Estoril, after which the 2020 US Open champion will be on the entry list for Munich.
