With 484 registered participants and after the drum roll by the batucada of La Manchuela, Blokomolea, the launch of a rocket to open the race and after a minute of silence for the person who was the local family doctor for many years , Ramón Alegría, and due to the death of Víctor Pardo, son of one of the members of the organizing club, the test was terminated.
The race ran along a completely urban route of 10,000 meters, divided into two laps of 5,000 meters, which showed unique points of the town such as the Plaza Mayor, the Nuestra Señora de la Estrella church or the hermitage of San Julián, with ideal weather. for runners.
The test was easy and quick for many of the runners, who enjoyed the tour through the streets of El Herrumblar.
With a mark of 0:33:09, the runner Domingo Cuevas Armero, from the Runfaster club, managed to beat. In second position came Julián Virgili Espada, running with CA Minglanilla, with a time of 0:34:19; while the third position went to Antonio Cerezo López, from CA Campillo, with a time of 0:34:40.
The podium of the women’s general classification was dominated by Rosario Gómez, from CA Iniesta, with a time of 0:40:52. At 3:08 behind the champion, María José Engra entered the finish line as second classified, and 25 seconds later Rocío López, from Rujamar Atletismo Cuenca, stopped the time, thus climbing to the third step of the podium.
Once the test was finished, the awards were presented, which was given by the mayor of the town, Leandro Blasco Rubio, accompanied by three councilors from the Corporation, which put the culmination of the event.
After the Easter break, the next event of the Popular Racing Circuit will be in Quintanar del Rey on April 6, on a 10,000 meter route.
